SENDING A PDF IF YOU HAVE AN IPHONE
1. Open the Notes app (it comes standard on iphones)
2. Click on the "write" icon in the lower, right-hand corner. It looks like a square with a diagonal stick in it.
3. Click on the camera icon.
4. Click "scan documents."
5. Take a picture of the first page.
6. Drag the dots on the corner of the frame to adjust scan size if necessary.
7. Click on "keep scan."
8. Repeat for the remainder of the pages.
9. When you are finished, click "save" in the bottom, right-hand corner of your screen.
10. Next, hit "done" in the top, right-hand corner.
11. Click on the send document icon in the top, right-hand corner (looks like a rectangle with an arrow pointing up.)
11. Choose the email option, and send it to me: gallan@fortisacademy.net

Language Arts
RESEARCH PAPER WAX MUSEUM SPIEL: Continue working on the spiel this week. Also be sure work on putting together a costume. Because of the current situation, please do not stress about this and just gather what you can from what you have available at home. This should be a 30-45 second oral presentation that is practiced enough that it can be mostly done from memory, although students may use a note card for reference--NOT TO READ FROM! Please have your student practice until he or she can recite it mostly from memory. .
Optional Secret Garden Project
Tomorrow, we are going to discuss The Secret Garden while having a tea party. My book includes a recipe for crumpets, which are customarily eaten with tea. If students want to, have them try making some crumpets that they can eat and enjoy while we are having our virtual tea time discussion tomorrow. The recipe was sent via email.
Science
Tape or glue the leaves students collect to a piece of white paper. Use this link to try to identify them:

RESEARCH PAPER FINAL DRAFT: Begin writing the final draft of the research paper. Students may type it, or they may handwrite it, convert it to a pdf, and email it to me. The final draft should be written as one seamless docuement, and the bibliography should be attached to the back. Be sure to underline all dress-ups and sentence openers, and highlight common words between topics/clinchers, and the intro/conclusion. I will return all edited rough drafts to you by Wednesday evening, so you'll have them in time to write the final draft.

OPTIONAL MEMORY WORK:
Geography: We'll continue memorizing our states and capitals. A hard copy of the map can be found behind the "memory" tab in your child's binder. Additional maps, as well as MP3s of the song, are available at this link: Geography Resources.
History: Students will memorize 21 key dates this year. The key dates have accompanying jingles that do not have to be memorized, but will help students remember the dates and the corresponding events. We will test over the first sixteen dates on 4/29:
