Wednesday, August 31 - Pizza, DOGS, and Spirit Day! Students may wear a Fortis T-shirt with jeans or denim shorts. Students who do not wear a spirit shirt must wear regular uniforms. Students should still pack a snack and a water bottle.Monday, September 6 - Labor Day Holiday. No on-campus classes on these days. All students will have a full day of homework on Tuesday.

MATH:
- Review concepts from Ch1-2.
- Practice multiplying by a two-digit number.
- Divide a two-digit or three-digit number by a multiple of 10.
- Divide a two-digit or three-digit number by a two-digit divisor.
- Divide a three-digit number by a two-digit divisor resulting in a one-digit quotient (with or without a remainder).
- Increase speed, accuracy, and recall of multiplication facts.
SPELLING:
- Assess mastery of words containing the sound of /k/ spelled "ch."
- Learn to spell words ending in AIN.
GRAMMAR:
- Write sentences from classification labels.
- Know what a prepositional phrase is, and be able to recognize the most common prepositions.
- Classify and diagram pattern 1 sentences that include adjectives and adverbs.
- Identify adjectives and adverbs independent of the classification process.
WRITING/VOCABULARY:
- Learn the definitions of the four vocabulary words, and be able to correctly use each word in an original sentence.
- Practice dictionary skills.
- Write key word outlines.
- Know what a prepositional opener is and how to punctuate it.
- Use prepositional openers in a composition.
- Retell and write a paragraph using only a key word outline.
- Use five senses to experience a reading passage.
- Be able to summarize a passage through oral narration.

LATIN:
- Learn ten vocabulary words and the chapter maxim.
- Memorize the first declension noun endings and be able to use the chart to decline a noun.

- Understand that case is comparable to a noun job in English grammar.
- Know that nouns ending with "a" are almost always feminine.
- Know that the English inhabitants of Roanoke disappeared from the island while Governor John White was in England getting supplies.

- Be familiar with the names of John Smith, Chief Wahunsunacawh, Pocahontas, and John Rolfe, and the roles they played in Jamestown Colony.
SCIENCE:
- Know the functions of cartilage, joints, and ligaments.
- Identify key facts from a reading passage.
- Use a study guide to prepare for a test.
GEOGRAPHY:
- Develop a heart of compassion for the peoples of the world who don't yet know Christ.
- Learn the names and locations of some of the islands in the West Indies.
- Know some facts about and features of Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas.
MEMORY WORK:
Geography: We'll be working on the continents and oceans for the first few weeks. A hard copy of the map can be found behind the "memory" tab in your child's binder. Additional maps, as well as MP3s of the song, are available at this link: Geography Resources.
History: Students will memorize a portion of the Declaration of Independence (bolded portion only) and 21 key dates. The key dates have accompanying jingles that do not have to be memorized, but will help students memorize the dates and retain details about the events to which they correspond:

Poetry: This quarter, we'll work on memorizing and reciting Proverbs 2:1-11 (NIV):
My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
