SPELLING:
- Assess mastery of words containing the sound of /awt/ spelled OUGHT and words containing two hard "Cs."
GRAMMAR/WRITING/VOCABULARY:
- Write a properly structured works cited page.
READING:
- Improve reading comprehension and fluency.
- Expand vocabulary.
- Identify virtues, as well as elements of truth, beauty and goodness, in reading passages.
- Formulate questions from reading passages.
LATIN:
- Review previously learned concepts.

- Know that Texas was a slave state and part of the COnfederacy during the Civil War.
- Know that Sam Houston was elected as the first governor of the State of Texas.

SCIENCE:

- Understand the basics of how genes are passed from generation to generation.
GEOGRAPHY:
- Develop a heart of compassion for the peoples of the world who don't yet know Christ.
- Assess mastery of the names and locations of the 50 states.
- Assess mastery of the names of the state capitals.
- Memorize the names and locations of some of the Mexican states.
Geography: We are currently memorizing the names and locations of the Mexican states that border the U.S. states, as well as Distrito Federal and the states on the Yucatan Peninsula. A hard copy of this map can be found behind the "memory" tab in your child's binder. We are using the "Mexican Hat Dance" song in class to help us learn the border states.
