Reading			A Wrinkle in Time
		Practice Proverbs 2:1-11.	Introduce A Wrinkle in Time. Read Ch1 aloud. Have students notice all the five senses descriptions and write them down on the "Reading with Your 5 Senses" sheet.	Read Ch2. Orally narrate and discuss.	Read Ch3. Orally narrate and discuss.

History		Read Ch4. TL Cards and jingles: Lost Colony and Jamestown. Paste them side-by-side on the next blank, left-hand page of your journal. Then copy the jingles below each card.	Share Lost Colony stories from writing if time permits. Review jingles.	HISTORY JOURNAL: Pretend you are a reporter writing a story for a newspaper in England telling about the Lost Colony of Roanoke. Be sure to include the facts we know: when/where the colony was established, who was involved, when/how it was discovered that they had disappeared, what clue was left behind, etc.
Geography		Listen to the West Indies song three times and point to each country as you listen. Locate San Salvador (part of the Bahamas) on the map. This is the island where Columbus first landed in the New World!	Introduce West Indies map	Focus on memorizing the names and locations of the countries on the larger islands: Cuba, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and Trinidad & Tobago.
Science		Complete the Skeletal System Shutter Book on pA11 in the back of the NJ. On the lines, list at least five benefits of bones (see TB p37-40).	Try This activities. Distribute/review study guide.	Use study guide sent home in binders (also in documents folder) to prepare for Monday's test. Be sure that the NJ is packed; I will grade them during the test.

MATH:

• Multiply and divide two, three, four, or five-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers.
• Improve speed and accuracy of multiplication facts.

SPELLING:

• Learn to spell words ending in "ain."
• Assess mastery of words spelled with the sound of /k/ spelled "ch."

GRAMMAR:

• Write practice sentences using prescribed part-of-speech labels.
• Know that subject and verb have to agree and understand how to make them agree.
• Classify and diagram pattern 1 sentences that include inverted word order and adverb exceptions.

WRITING/VOCABULARY:

• Learn the definitions of the four vocabulary words and be able to correctly use each word in an original sentence.
• Practice dictionary skills.
• Know what 5-senses descriptions are, and use them when describing events in writing.

READING:

• Be able to summarize a passage through oral narration.
• Expand vocabulary.
• Identify virtues, as well as elements of truth, beauty and goodness, in reading passages.

LATIN:

• Learn ten new vocabulary words and a chapter maxim.
• Begin to memorize the first-declension noun chart.
• Know that every Latin noun has case, number, and gender.
• Practice noun declension.
• Begin memorizing the four principal parts of a Latin verb.

HISTORY:

• Know the basic outline of the events and key figures related to the founding of the Lost Colony of Roanoke and the Jamestown Colony.
• Know the general locations of the Jamestown and Roanoke colonies.
• Gain an understanding of the challenges, difficulties, and dangers associated with establishing colonies in the New World.

SCIENCE: 

• Use a study guide to prepare for a test.
• Continue memorizing the major bones in the body.

GEOGRAPHY:

• Develop a heart of compassion for the peoples of the world who don't yet know Christ.
• Begin memorizing the names and locations of the islands of the West Indies.
• Know that Columbus first landed in the West Indies on the island of San Salvador in the Bahamas.

MEMORY WORK:

Geography: We'll be working on memorizing the islands of the West Indies for several weeks. This is a challenging map, so be sure to practice it every day! A hard copy of the map can be found behind the "memory" tab in your child's binder. Additional maps, as well as MP3s of the song, are available at this link: Geography Resources.

History: Students will memorize a portion of the Declaration of Independence (bolded portion only - recitation on 11/10) and 21 key dates. The key dates have accompanying jingles that do not have to be memorized, but will help students memorize the dates and retain details about the events to which they correspond.
