MATH:
- Improve speed and accuracy of 10s, 11s, and 12s multiplication facts.
- Review addition and subtraction of fractions.
- Divide two whole numbers and express the remainder as a fraction or a mixed number.

SPELLING:
- Assess mastery of words ending in IVE

GRAMMAR:
- Know what a prepositional phrase is, and be able to recognize the most common prepositions.
- Classify and diagram pattern 1 sentences that include prepositional phrases.
- Recognize prepositions in sentences and successfully add them to a noun chart.
- Identify prepositions independent of the classification process.
- Distinguish between prepositions and adverbs.
- Know what pronouns and subject pronouns are.

WRITING/VOCABULARY:
- Know that all narrative stories have three main components: characters/setting, plot/conflict, and climax/resolution.
- Learn four new vocabulary words and be able to properly use them in writing.
- Know that good narrative stories and most other types of writing should include a dramatic opener to catch the reader's attention.
- Know how to read proofreading symbols.
- Summarize a passage through oral narration.
- Expand vocabulary.
- Identify virtues, as well as elements of truth, beauty and goodness, in reading passages.
LATIN:
- Assess mastery of all previously learned maxims, vocabulary words, and charts.
- Become familiar with the 2nd declension masculine "ludus" chart.
- Know how to identify masculine nouns and be able to decline them.
- Know the story of Squanto and the role he played in helping the pilgrims be successful.
- Compare and contrast the lives of Squanto and Joseph.
JOURNAL: A Venn diagram (see photo below) is used to compare and contrast two things. Above the left circle, write "Joseph," and above the right circle, write "Squanto." Things that are unique to Joseph will go in the left circle; things that are unique to Squanto will go in the right circle; and things they have in common will go in the space where the two circles intersect.
SCIENCE:
- Know the three types of muscles.
- Know the role of tendons in the body.
- Know the difference between voluntary and involuntary muscles.
- Continue memorizing the major muscles of the body.
GEOGRAPHY:
- Develop a heart of compassion for the peoples of the world who don't yet know Christ.
- Learn the names and locations of some of the islands in the West Indies.
- Know some facts about and features of Aruba, Barbados, Antigua & Barbuda, and Trinidad & Tobago.
MEMORY WORK:

History: Students will memorize a portion of the Declaration of Independence (bolded portion only) and 21 key dates. The key dates have accompanying jingles that do not have to be memorized, but will help students memorize the dates and retain details about the events to which they correspond:

My son, if you accept my words
